Most people are able to manage their feelings, however painful, after bereavement, but in some cases counselling will help process feelings if past losses are traumatic or intense.
Distance, a difficult or traumatic death, the feeling of relationships left unresolved, can all give rise to contradictory and confusing feelings. Sometimes anxiety and panic attacks may follow. Sleep disorder is common.
Counselling can help a bereaved person identify, accept and process these feelings, and start to adapt to life in their new circumstances.
Weekly, focussed counselling sessions over an agreed period can give support and direction towards adjusting to your loss.
